Coronavirus Update

January 2022

Dear Group Leader,

As a standard practice the centre has mostly reverting to its’ ‘normal’ practices for all groups arriving after July 19th 2021. This includes buffet service at mealtimes, shared bedrooms and no one-way system or compulsory social distancing and masks

However, in light of the current spike in cases and ongoing concern, we will continue with additional outside eating space (for distanced meals) and regular cleaning of touch-points. We also ask, but don’t require, groups to maintain social distancing and wear masks in indoor public spaces (such as corridors), where this is practical.

The conduct of groups and participants, within group spaces, remains the responsibility of the group leader or organiser. It is up to you to decide your policy on masks, distancing, rule of six etc. We are aware that some groups will still require participants to provide a negative PCR test before attending their workshop, even though this is not a government requirement, and we support, and encourage, such measures.

This last year and a half has been very difficult, financially, for the centre, with little income coming in. On top of that we are now paying significantly more in food costs. The government is, however, aware of the difficulties hospitality businesses face and has responded by reducing VAT for the sector from 20% to 12.5%. We are sharing this benefit with groups and also apply a Covid supplement which is now £60 per day to recover a portion of the additional Covid costs we’ve incurred during this time and the 3 rounds of touch points cleaning and higher energy cost due to ventilation.

We are aware that many are feeling nervous about attending events in current circumstances. We are therefore also offering, for those group organisers that wish it, to maintain our existing full Covid-secure operation:

-        This includes a cap of 30 in the main centre,
-        One person per bedroom (apart from couples/existing bubbles) with no Single supplement applied.
-        Plated food (to avoid queues) at mealtimes
-        A one-way system
-        Masks
-        Social distancing
-        Rule of six
-        and the additional touch-point cleaning.

If you wish to choose this option, we will add a £6 Covid supplement per person per day.

We appreciate that the above, like much to do with Covid restrictions.., is a tad complicated…so please call us if you have any queries.

With very best wishes,

Karen and David
