facilities for courses, workshops and seminars.
Clearly this is a difficult time for us all. The impact of COVID-19 is being felt around the world and the virus threatens the lives and livelihoods of millions. We watch reports of what is unfolding with mounting concern. Like many businesses we’re facing a range of unprecedented challenges.
Our priority here at EarthSpirit is the health and well-being of participants, staff, volunteers and the community in which we live. And of course we would like EarthSpirit to still be here in the future to provide a safe and nurturing space for groups on their various journeys of growth and development.
We’ve been closely following reports on the spread of the virus, and government advice on health protection and social distancing. And, of course, we’ve been speaking with many of you. We are hopeful that the UK will follow a similar trajectory to that of China, which has now begun re-opening restaurants and other venues, two months after they were closed down. But we also have to be prepared for the possibility that the crisis will last longer. In truth no one really knows how long it will last. Our plan, however, is to be ready to welcome groups as soon as restrictions are lifted.
We are also doing everything we can to transfer workshops and retreats that were scheduled to take place over the next two months, and their deposits, to later in the year. This won’t be possible for all groups but we are hopeful that many can be re-scheduled.

Decisions about groups further ahead will be made as and when we’re able, depending on how much the virus has reduced and government advice and support. Please bear with us as we work through the challenges and decisions we now face.
Here at the centre we are looking at ways of using this time well, and are researching the possibility of running a food delivery service for isolated people in the village. We are also hoping to spend some time creating new vegetable gardens, so that we’ll have more home-grown veg for groups in the future.
All of us here at EarthSpirit hope you have the support you need at home. If you don’t, or if you’d like to talk through your situation, we’d be happy to speak with you. We’re still here. You’re also welcome to leave messages on our Facebook page. And finally here is some advice, and some practices and meditations from Sharpham’s website for you to listen to www.sharphamtrust.org/resources Enjoy!
Look after yourselves.
With love and support,
David Taylor (Director) Karen Eliott (General Manager)
