The General Manager role offers a unique opportunity for someone looking for a long-term position, with the possibility of on-site accommodation.
General Manager Key Responsibilities:-
Liaise with the Director to manage the centre.
Ensure the smooth day to day running and efficient operation of the centre.
Responsible for sales, marketing and bookings
Ensure buildings, equipment and decoration are maintained to a high standard..
Motivation and management of the team.
Liaise with the Departments to monitor expenditure as necessary.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated General Manager with a proven record of managing teams, working to and achieving targets.
The successful candidate will oversee the various departments within the centre, including the office, kitchen, and housekeeping. This will include managing targets, overseeing book-keeping, bookings, HR functions, health and safety and above all, guest experience.
Previous retreat management experience is helpful for this role, as you will hit the ground running going into the new 2022 season. On-site accommodation is available if required.
This is a permanent position, to work full time, variable hours in accordance with business needs. This will include bank holidays and occasional evenings and weekends. The General Manager position is ideal for anyone searching for a hospitality management position within an easy commutable distance of Glastonbury.
What experience you will need
You will have similar previous experience.
Some knowledge of the holistic sector. What skills you will need
MS Office, Quickbooks.
Taking a proactive approach to achieving high standards of customer service.
Full driving licence is essential.
Strong and effective communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate flexibility to suit the business’s needs.
Ability to work under pressure.

Specific responsibilities include: -
-Overall responsibility for the efficient management of the centre.
-Meeting financial and ethical targets for the growth and development of the centre
-Strategic planning for the business, helping frame future plans.
-Controlling expenditure, in liaison with the director
-Setting and monitoring targets as necessary
-Responsible for Catering, Sales, Marketing and Bookings
-Communicating and building a rapport with group leaders.
-Convening and facilitating staff meetings when required, and at least monthly.
-To be available daily for the department managers to review priorities and set goals.
-Support and oversee housekeeping, ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation are maintained and review priorities and set goals.
-Support and oversee kitchen, to meet targets and ensure high standards of presentation. To review priorities and set goals.
-Overall responsibility for health & safety and risk assessments
-Responsibility for ensuring that service schedules are delivered
- Co-ordinating, and undertaking, where necessary, office administration and assistance
-Business Rates/Insurance renewals and safe filing of guarantees
-Maintaining service/utility certificates.
- Human Resources: staff recruitment, support, administration of holidays, appraisals, discipline, and terminations.
-Preparation and review of quarterly reports, together with the book-keeper, and preparation of other reports as requested by the director.
-Managing the tips share to staff
-Keeping the protocols up to date.
-Inductions for all new staff and volunteers.
-Ad hoc duties.
