Kitchen Assistant Manager (live-in optional) – to start October 2023 
£10.50 ph plus accommodation & perks / £11.50 ph & perks if local but off-site

The EarthSpirit Centre is a busy, award-winning venue, situated five miles to the south of Glastonbury. You will be assisting the kitchen manager with the administration of running the kitchen under his direction.
The job includes the preparing, serving and cleaning away of meals for the attending groups and supervision of occasional kitchen helpers. It also includes the organisation of the department and occasional liaising with groups, maintaining health and safety procedures, and ordering and taking delivery of food. Hours are flexible to be arranged with the Kitchen Manager, and they may involve split shifts and include some weekend work and irregular hours. We cook vegetarian food from scratch, with a focus on fresh, colourful ingredients and good presentation. We can also cater for more gluten-free and vegan diets. The work will typically be allocated in shifts staring on a Sunday to Saturday. On a weekly cycle to include two days not catering for groups and taking shifts.
You will be capable of working under pressure, and to be quick, organised, efficient and consistent in your food preparation. You have experience in cooking for large groups 40 plus. The hours will average between 25-30 hours per week (up to 40 when covering for the kitchen manager) over the course of the year as this is a seasonal business. Flexible hours possible - to be agreed with the kitchen manager.
Specific Duties include:

• Assisting with Health and Safety procedures/monitoring, ensuring high standards are met
• Meal planning and cooking for small and large groups
• Running the kitchen logs, ordering, stock checks, taking deliveries and organising rotas in conjunction and as determined by and in support of the kitchen manager
• Attending meetings when requested to, or in replacement of, the kitchen manager
• Replenishing self-catered food and drinks for groups
• Ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen with the kitchen manager

Required qualifications & experience:
Food Hygiene – Level 2 (with training provided by EarthSpirit for Level 3)
Has worked in a commercial kitchen
Full UK Driving licence – or equivalent
Fluency in English language (proficient in speaking and writing)
What we offer
- Remuneration according to whether you are on-site or off site (additional payment if off site), plus benefits (as below: allocated accommodation for your use on-site (not including bills), use of company car, free food when working); or £11.50 ph if not on-site.
- 25-30 hrs pw averaged but flexible as to when worked. This includes some w/ends and bank hols and occasional cover for the kitchen manager.
- Pro rata paid holiday per year (based on 28 days for 40 hrs a week) including bank holidays whether worked or lieu according to business needs.
