Site and Maintenance Manager– Job Description

Hours: Full Time

Wage: £12 / hr

In this role, you will have the overall responsibility for technical, maintenance, grounds and building issues at the centre. The role is offered as a live-in position. This includes on-call responsibilities responding to urgent requests/emergencies). Days worked can be flexible providing duties are met. Please note that the wage for this role will be dependent upon your experience and skill set.What can you expect in return?

 Responsibilities: 

  • You will have responsibility for all fire safety, checks and records of the fire alarm system
  • Maintaining electrical systems and equipment on site. Professional electrician available when necessary
  • Ensuring scheduled responsibilities for certificates (gas, chimney sweeping, electricity, PAT testing etc) and health and safety are discharged
  • Maintaining all plumbing on site, with the support of a professional plumber when necessary
  • Looking after the spa (hot tub and sauna), including maintenance, checks and logs for Environmental Heath
  • Preparing quarterly water samples for analysis at the laboratory for legionella and other harmful bacteria
  • Ensuring on-call cover (overnight and weekends) both directly and when not available.
  • Responsibility for canvass stores and for erecting yurts and tents when needed and maintaining their condition
  • Maintaining both bonfire areas
  • Maintaining all equipment (stereo, lights, heaters etc.)
  • Responsibility for the automated pellet boiler including ordering the pellets (checks, fuel orders) and heating system (underfloor heating, radiators, thermostats etc.)
  • Overall responsibility for grounds, camping and park areas including tree care, grass-cutting, hedges and strimming. Mower maintenance. Responsibility does not include gardening
  • Managing suppliers, keeping on top of the rubbish and recycling collections and disposal. Keeping the recycling area tidy and sorted.
  • Responsibility for the workshop, furniture, tool and camping equipment stores including safe storage of hazardous products
  • Health and Safety of contractors, staff, and volunteers who on occasion may be assisting you. You are required to provide and record that you have given H&S for manual handling, working at height etc.
  • Implementing safety protocols (e.g. cold weather safety) 
  • Keeping risk assessments up to date
  • Occasional liaising with groups as Point of Contact
  • Overseeing new building projects, ability to plan ahead, budget, liaise with trades etc. Some familiarity with building skills (concrete, stone & woodwork) would be an advantage
  • Supporting and liaising with the housekeeping team during turnarounds between groups
  • Liaison with summer campers and glampers
  • Attending team meetings and communicating regularly with the office over group needs
